Hi there, all! I just wanted to pose a question as to what kind of microphones one finds works the best for them. I was straining to find an appropriate microphone myself, and then defaulted down to my USB Logitech mic which came packaged with Karaoke Revolution Country (which I purchased on Sunday). Oddly enough... I found that it works great! It catches only the loudest of ambient noise, so even the loud whirring of my computer didn't come through on my recordings. Still, I'd like to try and get something a bit more... professional. Thanks for your time! Respectfully, ~Eclipse

I use a Labtec brand USB microphone. I've also found that using the USB mic does help in cutting down a lot of that "hiss" you can sometimes get with analog mics.
A good tip to eliminate ambiant noise, by the way... turn the gain on your mic down, and move it just a bit closer to your mouth.

Hey, thanks for the tips, mate. I'm used to speaking on a regular radio set, so it's sometimes hard for me to discern just what doesn't sound "right". Crickets and static and echo and whatnot is all common to me.

Hi, I'm new here. Up until recently I've been using an old mic that came with my original Gateway computer, but no there's a terrible short in the wiring. So lately I've been using my X-Box Music Mixer mic and an RCA adapter to hook the audio output from my X-Box to my computer. It seems to work fine, and I usually don't worry about background noise because I use Adobe Audition to do noise reduction which works perfectly for me. I wouldn't recomend it to others, though, since it's a difficult rig to set up.
